Insurance Solicitor – London
Carter Perry Bailey is seeking to recruit a lawyer to join its insurance team. The role will include a varied range of work handling professional indemnity claims as well as assisting lead partners with high value and multi-party claims across a number of areas of insurance law such as life/protection insurance, Accident & Health and travel coverage, FI, D&O as well as more generic insurance and reinsurance matters (both non-contentious and contentious).
The firm is currently dealing with claims against a variety of professionals including architects, engineers, surveyors, accountants, financial professionals, insurance brokers and property professionals. In addition it is conducting a number of large and complex coverage matters.
This unique role provides the opportunity to have a wide range of experience in quality work in a collaborative environment. A good grounding in insurance principles and being a team player are key requirements. However, training shall also be provided.
The firm also offers the opportunity for a secondment to a leading claims team.

Your role
Your role will include:
- Reviewing documents and preparing reports
- Complying with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 and relevant Service Standards
- Instructing Counsel/Experts (medical and non-medical)
- Conducting disclosure
- Court appointments
- Liaising with both Insured and Insurer clients
- Attending conferences and Trials with Counsel
- Legal research
- Handling routine correspondence
- Reviewing evidence
Skills, experience and qualifications
The following experience, skills and qualifications are essential:
- Previous defendant professional indemnity experience
- To prioritise workload / meet deadlines
- To pay attention to detail
- The personal skills to deal with such work involving liaison with senior personnel, clients and third parties
- To communicate in writing and prepare succinct reports
- To work as part of a team
- To work with case management systems
Personal qualities
The leading candidate will be an individual who displays:
- Willingness to play a role in the development of client relationships and of the practice as a whole.
- Claims handling experience (via a previous secondment or otherwise).
