Alan specialises in regulatory law and practice for insurance brokers and solicitors, as well as insurance litigation and policy advice. In particular, Alan advises on professional indemnity, product liability, property, construction and environmental matters.

Alan’s career spans over 30 years. He became the first Senior Partner of Jarvis & Bannister, the specialist insurance firm he formed in 1982. He has also been a Partner in several other leading City insurance law firms.

Alan is certified in Mediation Skills for Alternative Dispute Resolution and in Psychodynamic Counselling and Organisational Dynamics.

Alan is currently the Managing Director of Advantage Regulation Limited, a regulatory consultancy company he formed with compliance experts from the insurance market in October 2013, to provide practical regulatory advice and assistance to insurance brokers and agents, and to solicitors.

Alan has been a member of the Practice and Development Committee of the Law Society. In 2013, he stepped down as Vice Chair of the Law Society's Lexcel Committee, a position he had held for 12 years.
