Sitting as Arbitrators

Members of Carter Perry Bailey are available to sit as arbitrators. Both Stephen Carter and Bill Perry are qualified as Members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Stephen Carter also holds a directorship of a reinsurance company, thereby qualifying him to sit as an arbitrator under most reinsurance contract wordings. Bill has sat as an arbitrator in Kosovo concerning the regulations governing the insurance industry there, which is governed by a mix of Ottoman, Yugoslavia and Kosovan (American devised) law.Both Stephen Carter and Bill Perry are experienced in conducting international reinsurance arbitration. Unusually for an English solicitor, Stephen has acted in three evidential arbitration hearings in the USA involving US arbitration procedures. Both Bill and Stephen have acted in honourable engagement arbitrations as well as those subject to a system of national law, including international arbitrations involving complex interrelations of different systems of law. They have experience of ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, the latter including ICC, City Disputes Panel and ARIAS Rules. Both Stephen and Bill have spoken internationally on arbitration issues.
