Run-off

The members of Carter Perry Bailey have worked with run-off organisations over many years and Stephen Carter in particular has maintained close links with the run-off market since he worked at a leading run-off manager in the 1980s. Our lawyers understand the relationships and particular dynamics that apply to a run-off situation and can work with (re)insurers and their owners in achieving successful run-off strategies. We have also been active in finality products, including by commutation, transfer of business and scheme of arrangement. Bernadette Bailey is the team's representative at the Association of Run-off Companies and both she and Stephen Carter regularly attend commutations rendezvous and speak at technical meetings of the International Association of Asbestos and Pollution Reinsurers. Stephen Carter is also a director of a reinsurance company in run-off, Community Reinsurance Corporation Limited.
