LLB (Hons), D.E.J.F (Limoges). Admitted as a solicitor in 1988.

Bernadette graduated in Law and French before qualifying as a solicitor. She has over 15 years experience of working in insurance and reinsurance law. Her practice covers both contentious and non-contentious aspects. She has acted in litigation and arbitration, often international, in relation to facultative and treaty reinsurance disputes, binding authorities, and run-off related matters. Bernadette also has wide direct insurance experience, including property/casualty, industrial injury, personal injury and professional indemnity claims and coverage disputes, with a particular niche expertise in fine art. In addition, having spent a period seconded as in-house lawyer to a leading pharmacy insurance company, she has particular expertise in this area. During that time she was involved in many aspects of the insurers business, including in-house claims administration, delegated claims handling authorities, portfolio acquisition by transfer of business, policy drafting, reinsurance arrangements, regulation, compliance and other commercial matters such as intellectual property rights. Her non-contentious practice has included contract and policy drafting, FSMA Part VII transfer and regulatory advice.
Bernadette is ranked as a leader in the field of insurance claims by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession 2011. She is a Board Member of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Service Providers and a member of the Institute of Art and Law and the British Insurance Law Association.
